2010 Was A HUGE SUCCESS

Thank you Charleston for making Cinderella Day 2010 a HUGE SUCCESS!!  On March 6th, we fit 250 girls with beautiful dresses, shoes and jewelry and were absolutely blown away by the positive feedback from all of our beautiful prom princesses and their families.

Thank you to our amazing sponsors and to all of the Charleston press that covered the event.  In the week before the event, we had a surge in donations because of their coverage and added an extra 600 dresses to choose from!!!  Many of these even had tags and were SUCH a blessing to our girls!!  They ensured that every girl selected their perfect dress–in their perfect size–and felt like a princess!

We will be posting pictures from this year’s event and also information about how you can get involved for next year’s event so keep checking back here for updates!

WE NEED DRESSES!! and shoes…and jewelry…

With March 6th just around the corner, we are in our final push to collect gently used dresses, shoes, and jewelry to give out as a blessing to teens all over the Lowcountry.  We are expecting our biggest turnout ever and we would love to have so many dresses to choose from, so that each girl is guaranteed a great fit!!

So gather your girlfriends and pass the word.  No, you’re probably not going to fit into that one again.  No, you don’t need to keep it in the back of the closet for sentimental reasons.  And no, you’re not going to have that bridesmaids dress shortened to wear again.  So donate them!!!  🙂

And remember, it is all tax deductible!!  Receipts are available at the Dream Center or in drop off shed behind Seacoast’s Long Point Rd campus.

Cinderella Day–March 6, 2010

The planning is now underway for 2010’s Cinderella Day!!  Set your calendars and call your girlfriends–we are going to need all of the publicity and donations we can get to make March 6, 2010 from 10 am until 2 pm the most special day of these girls’ lives!!

If you have never been involved with Cinderella Day before, let me explain how it works.  Seacoast Church’s North Charleston Dream Center is already involved in reaching out to the North Charleston area and meeting the needs of the community there.  Through this partnership, a need was recognized 3 years ago and the Dream Center stepped up to meet that need.  Prom is a pivotal time in a young girls life but for hundreds of girls around the Lowcountry, it is simply a time where the needs of their families outweigh the importance of buying a new dress and feeling beautiful.  What an opportunity this is for the community to step up and build self esteem!!!  In 2008, we had 120 girls attend the Dream Center’s Cinderella Day and last year we had 180 girls attend.  In 2010, our goal is to fit 300 girls with gently-used, gorgeous dresses, shoes, and jewelry that they can wear to prom…all for FREE!!

In addition to dress donations, we are looking for make-up artists, hair stylists, jewelry and shoe donations, corsages, limos…anything that will help contribute to this memorable occasion.  We need YOU to get involved, spread the word, and help get as many donations as possible!  Pass the word around to anyone you think would like to help or anyone who could benefit from attending this event.
